It was my distinct pleasure to join my home Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Clemson, as the guest speaker. There’s much happening in Columbia, but it’s always great to bring that work back to my constituents and neighbors.
The opportunity to update the crowd of 75 included sharing news about my work to strengthen Department of Transportation transparency and accountability, efforts to champion an independent redistricting effort, as well as updates about the state retirement system (H. 3726). I also had the opportunity to talk about the work that awaits legislators in the wake of the SCANA/Santee-Cooper/V.C. Sumner Nuclear facility closure. It is vital that we reform our state’s Public Service Commission, Santee Cooper Board and Office of Regulatory Staff, repeal the Base Load Review Act, and then work toward a way to prevent ratepayers from picking up the tab for this failed project.
It is an honor to know and represent the fine people of the Rotary Club of Clemson and all of District 3!
