Governor McMaster held a ceremonial signing for the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) bill Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, and I was pleased to join him for the event, which was held in the Governor’s State House office.
S. 345 was the companion to H. 3772, my advanced practice registered nurse bill, and I was proud to work with Sen. Tom Davis on its passage.
The legislation removes and modifies certain restrictions on APRNs, allowing them to now practice to the full extent of their education and training. Advocating for South Carolina’s medical professionals is key to expanding access to health care in our state. By expanding the authority and responsibilities of APRNs, the APRN bill will be a great benefit to South Carolinians seeking medical care, particularly in underserved areas of our state.
